Today was the first day of second semester.
37 students, including myself, started the RT Program in September. 24 students, including myself, made it into second semester. That's about a 35% attrition rate. That's about what I was expecting.
I was surprised by a couple people who didn't make it and shocked by a couple of people who did. I'm fairly certain that a few people, just barely squeaked into second semester.

I hear students will drop like flies when the program starts covering mechanical ventilation.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be interesting to see how many survivors are left when I return.
I start the first of 3 ventilator courses on Thursday. I've also heard that the ventilator courses are tough.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the loud mouth? Did she advance?
ReplyDeleteNo, the loud mouth didn't advance to second semester. I don't think that she even wrote any of the final exams. She definitely didn't do her lab competency exam. She was scheduled to do the lab competency just before me, which meant that I got to do my competency a bit earlier than scheduled.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to the other 13 people who didn't make it?They didn't study?I can't believe the RT program is so tough that even if yoy study you cant make it!
ReplyDeleteThey either didn't study enough or they didn't know how to apply their knowledge when they were required to do so.
ReplyDeleteA lot of them, I think, thought that things would get dumbed down a bit so that more people would pass. Quite a few people almost didn't make it into second semester. The truth is that, the school isn't really interested in graduating people that can't pass the registry exam. We're being trained to a certain standard, if we can't meet that standard we have to leave.
i get it.
ReplyDeletei'm interested in becoming an RT also.now i just started with the prerequsites...
